The Meaning of The Dragon

The meaning of the oriental dragon is one of many facets. It's a legendary creature in Chinese culture. The dragon symbolizes power, strength and good luck to many cultures around the world. In Chinese culture, excellent and outstanding people are put alongside the dragon. They may be tasked with protecting sacred places, heavenly beings, or important cosmic elements. This role underscores their benevolent nature as defenders of the sacred and divine.
They are depicted in many forms, such as soaring in the clouds, standing in an authoritarian pose, roaring, and many more. In the Imperial eras of China, the dragon was often seen as a symbol for the imperials to show authority.
Dragons are often associated with imperial power and authority. In Chinese culture, the emperor was considered the "Son of Heaven," and dragons were seen as celestial beings with the power to bring rain and ensure a prosperous harvest. The dragon symbolized the emperor's authority to rule.

Many idioms in China have references to the dragon. “望子成龙” “Wishing ones child become as great as the dragon.”  “龙凤呈祥” “Dragon and Phoenix are a match made in heaven. “龙生九子” “The Dragon's nine sons” The Pixiu is said to be the ninth son of the dragon.
