Peridot's color is one of the most vibrant in all of the gemstones. Often "Found in lava, meteorites, and deep in the earth’s mantle, yellow-green peridot is the extreme gem"(GIA, Gemological institute of America)
Hardness: These stones are one of softer stones out of all the beautiful gemstones out there. On the Mohs hardness scale, it has a hardness of 6.5-7 (Diamond being the hardest at 10). It's not usually recommended for daily wear.
Rarity These beautiful gems are found in meteorites, but very rare. On occasions, they have been found to be big enough to cut into a polished fine gem. While some came from a far place not on Earth, our planet have bred these gorgeous gems in places "such as China, Myanmar, Pakistan, Tanzania, Vietnam and the United States, some journeyed to Earth on meteorites while others are found in exotic locales like Peridot Beach, Hawaii, where the sands shimmer a luminous green." Arizona is one of the main sources of peridot, mines down there have been worked for years and years, producing great quality gems.

Color: Most display a yellow- green ish color, but the finest gemstones display a deep leaf green color. And most stones above 10 carats display the best color. But can get quite costly.
Care: While it's a softer stone, it won't take hard daily wear, it might be affected by some acids, and cause it the color to fade. Ultrasonic/steam cleaner is not recommended, as the gem itself is sensitive to thermal shock. Soft bristle brush with mild dish soap and rinsed under water is recommended to keep the your peridot jewelry clean and looking like the day you got it.
